Product Description

Made out of a lightweight and very durable transparent acrylic, these ornaments will not weigh your tree down and can definitely withstand being dropped by the little ones should they get too curious around the tree.  The acrylic is cut into a 4 inch circle and then laser etched with the name of the mission and graphics inspired by the region served.

The design on this ornament is inspired by the Coat of Arms for Lima, Peru and depicts a shield being held by two crowned eagles, symbols of the Catholic Monarchy and loosely denoting the emblem of the double-headed eagle, a symbol of the Holy Roman Empire. The eagles are facing the initials “I” and “K”, Ioana and Karolus which were the names of the queen of Joanna of Castile (known as Joanna the Mad) and her son, later King Charles the First.

The slogan around the border of the shield “Hoc signum vere regum est”, which means “This is the true sign of the kings”. Within this surrounding a motto is illustration of three crowns and a star above them, which is explicitly stated to promote the idea of a the star of Bethlehem served the three kings specifically, rather than other visitors of the Infant Christ.
